"I was playing around in Painter to see what effects I could get. I used a Glass Lens filter on a gradient, which gave it the effect of multicolored lights. I thought that was a neat effect, so I took it from there... I painted a little circle to get some paint on the screen. Then I used the Distort tool on the circle and created the arms of the starfish."

"I created some terrains and put textures on them. With the KPT Bryce program, the results are very random, and you never know what you're going to get. There are so many variables -- the lighting and sky affect the textures -- so your art can turn out to be good or bad. For this particular piece it was good."

Artist's Statement:
"This was for an art competition open to Terra Linda High School students sponsored by Specular, the developers of the Infini-D 3D modeling program. I started to create this in Infini-D, but I found that it was just too difficult to use -- it didn't do what I wanted. So I spent around 6 hours creating the model in Strata Studio Pro. Then I exported it from Strata as .DXF file, imported it into Infini-D, and created the terrain and the landing pad."

"This spaceship was my first original 3D model. I created all of the ship including the laser beams in Strata and rendered the image with an Alpha Channel for compositing in Photoshop. I used Kai's Power Tools for the starry background and Photoshop for the Motion Blur and Lens Flare."

"Usually I do futuristic space ships. This time I made a tank that is more contemporary -- but it's not based on anything real. I used tires from one of Strata's clip art libraries, and I used Photoshop's Lens Flare filter to make it look like it was firing its guns."
